Howdy, Seabirders,
Below, I present some possible combinations of trips to optimize your sea birding experience. Whether you are visiting the central California coast from San Diego, Maine or England, you'll want to see as many species of seabirds as possible. Most trip combinations are planned with a travel or birding day, in between. For instance, birding along Highway 1 from Bodega Bay to Fort Bragg is excellent during fall migration. Passerine migration during the fall season mostly occurs along our coastline. If you are coming a long distance, it only makes sense to book more than one trip. Some combinations are two trips from the same port. In this case, you will not have to change motel rooms. As always, along this very popular coast, it is wise to book motel rooms in advance. See other blog posts for information about motels and possible discounts on rooms through Shearwater Journeys.
